Please RENEW your membership for the 2022-2023 season. You must be a PAID MEMBER in order to VOTE on the NEIGHBORHOOD ISSUES. Go to the SLN website at www.slneighbors.org for easy and convenient renewal process, or renew in-person at the meeting on the 13th.

Alderman Waguespack – State of Ward/City presentation
In keeping with SLN’s September meeting tradition, the Alderman will be addressing the SLN membership on neighborhood, Ward and City-wide issues.

Zoning Change – 3025 N. Southport
The owner wishes to reestablish a dwelling unit above the detached garage at this property under the new Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) Pilot Program passed by the City Council in May 2021. The ADU Program allows for the establishment of coach house /attic/ basement units to provide for more affordable housing, additional income to property owners and possible multi-generational living arrangements. A zoning change from B3-2(business) to RM-4.5 or RT-4(residential) is required to apply for the ADU.

Election of Officers and Directors
A slate has been developed for the 2022-2023 season. Voting is to take place at the September 2022 meeting.

Summer Party, Summer Fun!

Dear South Lakeview Neighbor,

After way too long, we’re bringing back the Summer Party!  As per tradition, it will be at Will’s Northwoods Inn on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.  All members are welcome. “Hot dog!,” you say? Yes, Hot Dogs, Brats, Cheese Curds, all the good stuff, plus an open bar and raffles for liquor and gift certificates, and a split-the-pot raffle as well. All procees go to benefit the Lakeview Pantry.

South Lakeview Neighbors is your not-for profit community organization, founded in 1964.  What do we do?

  • Provide feedback to the alderman on potential zoning changes
  • Sponsor election forums
  • Offer monthly meetings that feature your elected officials, new businesses, and other neighborhood issues

Attendees must be members or their guests from the neighborhood. If you live in the neighborhood (Belmont to Diversey, Ravenswood to Racine) and are not currently a member, we’ll be happy to sign you up at the door, or you may join online.

I hope everyone is safe and healthy. Our meeting schedule this year has been quite erratic, due to scheduling issues related to the pandemic. We will have a May 3rd membership meeting at the Athenaeum. I hope to see many of you there. We hope to have updates on ward remapping and traffic changes on Lincoln Avenue. Most importantly, the membership will elect new Board members and officers.
